General Information

This web site allows you to browse, search and download 2D and 3D CAD files for many Hepco parts. Available formats are IGES 5.3 (.igs), ACIS 5.0 (.sat), STEP AP203 (.step) and (2D) DXF (.dxf). As files can be quite large, you can select multiple CAD files into a download "trolley" which is compressed into a single .zip file, reducing download time. This .zip file should be unzipped into the working folder on your PC, and the models may then be imported into your CAD system. This web site is designed to help you find the CAD model which you are looking for. It does not provide technical information on products or help you select components. If you need help to specify the required parts, please consult the relevant catalogue (available on line at http://www.hepcomotion.com) or contact Hepco.

In many cases, the CAD files show components and systems in long lengths. Users will need to use commands in their own CAD systems to change the length as required. Many CAD models are assemblies of smaller parts. When imported into a user's CAD system, the relative positions of these parts will be correct, but the user will need to mate or constrain the assembly to ensure that correct positioning and degrees of freedom are maintained. In some cases (e.g. DLS, PDU2, HDRT & HPS) the length of a base component will need to be changed to suit the application, and then other parts will need to be moved to complete the assembly.

Tree Hierarchy

The left hand pane of the application shows the tree hierarchy of the CAD database. The structure of folders closely follows Hepco's catalogues and may be browsed in the usual way. If the text for a folder is clicked, then a picture illustrating its contents is displayed in the top right hand pane. If the text for a part is clicked, then full part details will be displayed in the top right hand pane.

Part # Search

All matches will be displayed in the top right hand pane. Use * as wildcard to help your search (e.g. entering SJ2* will give results SJ25C, SJ25DE and SJ25E). The search ignores punctuation and spaces so searching on SJ 25 C, SJ25-C, SJ25/C will all find the result SJ25C. In some cases, the part number can be longer and more detailed than the model. For instance the searching on part number SJ25CDRNS will return the result SJ25C, which is the correct model for this part number. See Model Valid for Parts. The results can be further searched using the Keyword Search function.

Keyword Search

Choose a keyword from the pulldown list and click OK. Results are displayed in the top right hand pane. You can search on further keywords within the results, using the second pulldown search in the top right hand pane.

Full Part Details

Parts selected from the tree hierarchy, or results returned from a search will display in the top right hand pane. The details include the model #, the part lineage and a brief description. A thumbnail image is shown, and a larger 3D Preview will display if the thumbnail is clicked. The final column of the part details allows the user to select file for download. By clicking on the text IGS, STEP, SAT or 2D-DXF (corresponding to IGES, STEP, SAT or DXF CAD formats) then the model file in the required format is added to the download trolley.

Model Valid for Parts

In some cases, one model is valid for many part numbers. Click on the Model Valid for Parts button to show all the part numbers relating to the model entry.

Download

Model files which have been added to the download trolley by clicking on the relevant area of the full part details are displayed in the lower right hand pane of the web page. The model number, file sizes and estimated download time are all displayed. Model files can be removed by clicking on "remove file" in the final column.

When you have selected all of the required files, click on the "checkout" button, which will compress the selected files into a .zip file. At this stage you can choose to read and print a receipt, add more files, or click to start the download.

Clicking to start the download will initiate a "save to disk" dialogue similar to the example of the Windows 2000 version shown below:

Download

To download the files, you MUST click the SAVE button. Remember where you saved the downloaded file(s) so that you can find them later.

Users with Windows XP or later will be able to open this zip file on your computer simply by double clicking on it. Users of other operating systems may need to use a tool, for example WinZip to uncompress this file and retrieve the CAD files it contains.
